Initial reports indicate an 86-year-old Brookfield woman’s Ford Escort was disabled in the right lane of travel when another vehicle, also traveling in the right lane, made a quick lane change and a GMC Sierra traveling behind that car crashed into the elderly woman’s Ford Escort.

The accident happened on eastbound 31st Street near Interstate 294 in Oak Brook on December 8, 2015 at approximately 11:27 a.m.

Officers found the Brookfield woman unresponsive in her vehicle. The woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

The man driving the GMC Sierra was not seriously injured.

Crash reconstruction and investigation was being conducted.

Our hearts go out to the family of the 86-year-old woman whose name was not released.
